Do others see Jesus in us?
Someone grabs your jacket as you walk by and they won’t let go.
Immediately, your senses are heightened.
You think this person wants to fight, but you turn around to see a kind smile.
Please don’t leave, they say, I see that you are a (wo)man of God and I need to know more.
This is an exaggerated experience, and I hope that if someone wants to speak to you they won’t literally grab you by surprise, but imagine with me how you would feel after you realized you weren’t threatened.
This could be a humbling experience.
What does it say about how you carry yourself?
The book of Zechariah is made up of dreams and visions. but concludes with this verse.
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’” Zechariah 8:23
God told his people that their love for him should make a difference in their lives.
The presence of his love should be enough that others take notice.
Do others want to be around us because we exude good character?
Is our spirit kind?
Are we slow to anger?
Do we do what is right?
Is God with us?
Matthew 7:20 says, “By your fruits, you will know them”
What fruit do we bear?
Is it one that is bitter or one that has people begging for more so they can get a little taste of a fraction of God’s love?
I hope strangers don’t grab you in the street.
Confronting someone spontaneously doesn’t sound like a safe experience.
However, If you’re looking for someone who can help you learn more about God I hope you find them.
On the flip side, if you are supposed to be that person make sure you can be found.
Take care of yourself
